COMPREHENSIVE FOOD SENSITIVITY TEST

Dr. Livingston may order a comprehensive food sensitivity test if you are showing unwanted symptoms or reactions to food.

Here are some of the typical reactions to food that some of our patients experience.

Intolerance or sensitivity to certain foods. Some examples are being

  1. lactose intolerant (when you can’t process the type of sugar that is in milk). Intolerance and food sensitivity often have the same symptoms as allergic reactions do.
  2. Sensitivity to the protein that is in wheat and also some other grains.

What patients do I recommend getting the food sensitivity test?

The answer is any of my patients who are suffering with digestive symptoms but can’t pinpoint which foods are causing these symptoms. There are several sensitivities to certain foods that develop as we age. Not all food sensitivities are rooted in our childhoods. A diagnosis is possible when we order the Food Sensitivity Test.

Symptoms

What to look for...

Some of the symptoms that our patients experience with food sensitivity are abdominal (stomach) pain, bloating (always feeling as if your stomach is full of gas), gas, diarrhea, tiredness, constipation, skin rashes, and headaches. Symptoms generally begin in a short time after eating and during the time when the food is making its way through your digestive system. This usually happens shortly after eating, but sometimes, it takes a few hours or even a few days to happen. This scenario adds to the difficulty of finding the food which is causing the reaction.

The Skin Intolerance Test which I will order for you analyzes up to 900 different trigger items that could be the culprit. The test also test for on-food items such as pollen and pet hair.
